Hi Nappers,
Sally got a text message out of the blue this week. A family member with an 11-week-old had quietly been trying a few things from the podcast and Instagram. No big plan. No dramatic overhaul. Just a handful of small shifts.
The result? Five nights of 11 hours sleep.
That text is the whole reason this masterclass exists — and it's worth unpacking exactly what changed, because none of it involved a formal sleep training method.
Here's what made the difference.
A hard 7am wake time.
Even if the night was rough. Even if baby came into bed at 6:55. The alarm goes off, the day starts, and everything else flows from there. It protects the first feed, the first wake window and the first nap. It also gives you a hard reset every single morning, no spiralling about what happened overnight.
Swaddling for every nap.
The Miracle Blanket specifically. When babies still have a startle reflex, naps can become a genuine battle, they're fighting themselves on top of being increasingly switched on to the world. A consistent swaddle signals to baby that sleep is coming. It removes the negotiation. It takes the fight out of their nervous system when they can't regulate themselves yet.
Putting baby down in the bassinet for every nap.
Not every nap has to be perfect. But offering the opportunity (dark room, swaddled, on their back) starts building the association between that environment and sleep. It doesn't have to replace every contact nap immediately. It's just about starting to give baby the chance.
Letting baby flap around overnight instead of rushing in.
This one is huge and so easy to miss. Babies are noisy. They grunt, kick, grizzle and sound genuinely distressed — with their eyes shut, fully asleep, linking sleep cycles. If you're room sharing and right there, every sound pulls you in. The result is that you end up waking a baby who was never actually awake. Sally and Bec talk about this all the time: one of two things will happen. Baby settles back on their own, or they escalate into something that genuinely needs you. Either way, you'll know.
Listen and watch here:
None of these changes are scary. None of them require a plan, a method or a perfect night to start. They're the foundations that make everything else work and they're the things that, if you put them in place early, mean you may never need to do anything more dramatic at all.
If you're in the thick of it right now, pick one. Just one. See what happens.
And if you've had a small win lately we genuinely want to hear it!
These moments matter.
